Loewe goes viral, Chanel and Balenciaga hit the slopes, and more.
Despite Halloween being next week, it seems like everyone has already hit fast forward and has the holidays on their mind. Case in point: Prada launched a festive campaign while Neiman Marcus announced their most over-the-top gifts for the season. Even the likes of Chanel and Balenciaga seem poised for winter, as they both dropped ski collections. But that’s not to say everyone’s ready to jump ahead. For those looking for some instant gratification, Fear of God just launched loungewear while New Yorkers can hit up the brand new Palm Angels boutique. For more of the week’s news you missed, read on.
Palm Angels Opens in New York City
Despite the devoted following Palm Angels inspires, the brand never had a dedicated store in New York City – until now. The new flagship, located on 70 Greene Street, opened on October 14th. Designed by Gilles & Boissier, the sleek space combines marble and metal along with raffia, in a blend of classic and austere elements. Palm Angels likes to describe themselves as being inspired by equal parts Milan as well as West Coast subcultures, making the mix of soft pink, black, and white the perfect color combo. The boutique will offer the full collection, limited collaborations, and some exclusive merch as well.
Fear of God Launches Loungewear
Just in time for cozy season Fear of God is dropping loungewear. The campaign, which stars Joan Smalls, Anok Yai, Annemary Aderibigbe, and America Gonzalez, highlights what the brand is best known for — luxurious neutrals. Featuring wool cashmere robes and blankets, pajama sets, boxer briefs, and socks, the pieces are meant to be worn both in and out of the home. Prices start at $150 and top out at $1,795 exclusively on the brand’s website.
Gentle Monster Goes Back to School
No one does a concept quite like Gentle Monster – not a surprise since their boutiques are known for going all-in on unique installations. For their optical collection, which officially launches on November 2nd, the South Korean eyewear brand is taking us back to high school – albeit one with robots and martial arts training. Starring Japanese actress Nana Komatsu and musician Shinichi Osa, the two wear futuristic goggles, aviator styles, as well as classic rectangular frames. Prices range from $269 to $400 and will be available for purchase both online and in their boutiques.
Neiman Marcus Fantasy Gifts Are Here
Ever wanted a walk on role with the American Ballet Theater? How about getting your likeness as an animated Disney character? Maybe attend the 2024 Paris Olympics as a guest of Ralph Lauren? Those are but a few of the exclusive Neiman Marcus fantasy gifts available for purchase this year. The department store is always known for their over-the-top presents and this year does not disappoint. Like prior years, each one comes with its own philanthropic component, as a reminder to customers of the importance of giving back. You can check out the entire offering here.
Balenciaga Hits the Slopes
Ski season is still weeks away but for those who are eagerly awaiting those first runs, Balenciaga is here to feed the excitement. Their skiwear collection debuted this week and includes technical pieces like waterproof jackets, pants, and gloves. Before you write them off as being purely for the vibes, know that they come with all the details like snow skirts, ski pass holders, and battery-saving insulated pockets. For those who want to go beyond apparel, there’s also a helmet, poles, as well as a snowboard and skis. Should après-ski be more your vibe, you’ll find cozy sweaters as well as denim and puffers. To round it out, there are also accessories like a backpack and belt bag as well as their 3XL ski sneaker, a version of their 3XL that’s meant to handle snow, complete with a detachable spiked crampon.
Chanel Gets Snowy
Speaking of the slopes, Chanel featured ambassador Lily-Rose Depp in their Coco Neige campaign. The winter themed shoot featured Depp on an ice skating rink, playing the role of a skater under the limelight, clad in cozy pieces made for cold weather. Besides the fuzzy boots and jumpsuit seen in the images, the collection also features other ski-friendly pieces as well as plenty of après-friendly styles. You can find the line in stores currently, just in time to prepare for any upcoming holiday trips.
Prada’s Surreal Escape
What’s the best present? For Prada it’s a moment of serenity in your own bubble – literally. For their festive campaign the brand features Maya Hawke, Damson Idris, Louis Patridge, and Kim Tae-Ri, seated in their own personal orbs. Equal parts flying pod, holiday ornament, or personal shuttle, depending on your interpretation, it’s an escapist fantasy during the time of year when anything can be possible.
Bottega Veneta Names a New Ambassador
After naming BTS’ RM as their first Global Brand Ambassador under the creative direction of Mathieu Blazy, Bottega Veneta announced their second this week. Shu Qi, the Chinese actress, debuted in an exclusive campaign that features the brand’s Gemelli bag, which just launched this week as well. While American audiences might not be as familiar with Shu Qi, she’s one of the most recognized public figures in China. She also boasts an impressive resume, receiving multiple nominations and awards for her work. “”There’s a cinematic quality to the design, with a beautiful sense of texture, detail, and movement. It’s a pleasure to represent such a rich heritage and distinct creative vision,” she says via the press release.
Loewe Goes Viral With Their Spring 2024 Precollection Campaign
When it comes to campaign casting, few brands know how to make an impact better than Loewe. Where else can you find a cast of characters that include Maggie Smith, Greta Lee, and Josh O’Connor? The images, which went viral earlier this week, shows that Jonathan Anderson manages to outdo himself, season after season.
Fendi’s Collection With Stefano Pilati Arrives in Stores
Stefano Pilati is a steadfast friend of Fendi, and his brand new curated collection for the house proposes a fresh outlook on both men’s and womenswear with a character-driven, iconoclastic approach. The 10 Magazine Issue 71 cover star, former design director at Tom Ford and Yves Saint Laurent, and menswear designer at Zegna, experiments with traditionally rugged, masculine silhouettes and linear femininity wherein “Milanese bourgeois chic meets Roman freedom.” Rooted in the idea of “the flapper” for today, he reflects on the 1920s and the 2020s at once. Friends of Fendi is a diverse series of projects and collections initiated by Kim Jones, artistic director of womenswear, and Silvia Venturini, creative director of accessories, menswear and children. “Stefano is one of the designers I admire the most. He is a friend, an inspiration and a designer for modern times,” says Jones. Shop the entire collection now in stores and online.
