Peekaboo and Naomi are the perfect pair.
When Fendi first launched their Peekaboo handbag back in 2008 the playful yet elegant design was an instant hit with its architectural and minimalist silhouette. Named as a nod to the childhood game, the carryall is instantly recognizable with its metal clasp that can be unlatched, creating a “smile” that reveals a soft leather lining. Worn by the likes of everyone from Rihanna to Hailey Bieber to Angelina Jolie, the brand has also created special versions with artists and other famous friends of the house like Zaha Hadid and Gwyneth Paltrow. For their latest collaboration Fendi asked another iconic face, Naomi Campbell, to front the ad campaign.
Shot by David Sims, the sleek black-and-white shots mark the second time Campbell has served as the face of the Peekaboo. “The wearer is a multifaceted person,” says Silvia Venturini Fendi in the press release. “They have hidden talents, they choose what they reveal about themselves, and when.” For Fendi, Campbell embodies those qualities as the brand describes her as being a woman who is a legendary representation of bold feminine energy and symbolizes independence, ambition, and strength.
Given that the Peekaboo has been around for nearly 15 years, this campaign is a testament to how the bag has become a classic — a refreshing antidote to the current fast-paced trend cycle we’re living in. Sometimes you don’t need to chase whatever is flashy and fleeting, you just need to remind people that great style is eternal.
The FENDI Peekaboo is available exclusively in FENDI boutiques and online.
