Nicola Brognano is stepping down as Blumarine’s creative director.
Announced in a statement this morning, the brand confirmed it is ending its creative collaboration with Brognano.
Having joined Blumarine in 2019 after previously helming his own eponymous label, Brognano in the last 3 years has completely revitalised the brand with his Y2K-infused vision. His barely-there silhouettes, sugary sweet colour palette and butterfly motifs –which often channeled Noughties pop cultural icons like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears – were part of a wider shift towards hedonistic, going out-out dressing post-pandemic. “Short, sexy, girly,” is how he described his vision for the brand, which was a go-to for the likes of Dua Lipa and Bella Hadid, and caught the attention of Marc Jacobs’s Ava Nirui, who tapped Blumarine to collaborate with Heaven back in July.
“Working as Blumarine’s creative director, a brand I have always followed with keen interest, has been profoundly enriching on a professional, creative and personal level,” said Brognano. “Shining the spotlight once again on the brand has been a unique and thrilling experience. I would like to thank Marco Marchi for this opportunity and my team for the extraordinary work we have done together.”
There has been no news on Brognano’s next move or who will replace the designer at the helm of Blumarine.
