Celine Release Their Newest Fragrance Zouzou

What would a mischievous sixties French teen girl who is the main character of her own story smell like? According to Celine and Hedi Slimane, it’d be a lot like Zouzou, their latest fragrance. With notes of caramel, tonka bean, musk, patchouli, and vanilla, it’s equal parts sweet, powdery, and just a bit mysterious. The name of the perfume comes from the nickname given to young girls with short hair or to loved ones, the perfect label for a scent that was created as a tribute to the sylph-like heroines of that era. For Slimane, the inspiration is a reflection of a central theme in his work as youth culture plays heavily in his designs and photography. The campaign sees Esther-Rose McGregor in a pixie cut, posing with the bottles, embodying the gamine spirit inherent to the fragrance. Zouzou joins the rest of the Celine family of fragrances, as the twelfth creation. Shop it here.

Dior’s Ode to Marlene Dietrich Campaign Launches

Last week Maria Grazia Chiuri and Dior headed to Brooklyn to show their pre-fall 2024 collection. Inspired by Marlene Dietrich, a longtime customer of the brand who famously said “No Dior, no Dietrich!” to Alfred Hitchcock, before the filming of Stage Fright, the runway was a modern day spin on the film icon. Featuring mannish trousers, slinky beaded dresses, as well as a sexy update on a Dietrich classic, the tuxedo, the styles were equal parts French and American in energy. And now we have an ad campaign for those looks as shot by Collier Schorr. With both black and white as well as color shots juxtaposed side by side, the pared back images are cinematic and elegant. The concept of duality is seen in every photo — trenches play against midi dresses while lingerie-inspired pieces sit side by side against more covered up ensembles. To round it out, even the shoes, the Spectadior pumps and Dior sneakers, highlight the contrast between practicality and fantasy. The collection is available online now.
