If anyone knows how to pop out suave, sleek and sophisticated collections, it’s Brunello Cucinelli. For AW24, the luxury Italian brand used structured tailoring to create shapes reminiscent of sartorial trends prominent in the 1980s. Retaining its commitment to comfortability as well as style, the offering was peppered with fabrics that were lightweight yet cosy. Crafting multiple pieces from a new textile blend that combined the technical features of synthetic fabrics with the feel of natural materials like cotton and wool, the offering felt relaxed yet attentive and committed to products of the highest quality.
Suiting was a regular feature, with the brand combining sharp edges with more casual materials to emphasise the duality of each set. Understated patterns and textures added an extra depth. Knitwear also appeared throughout, with waffle stitches, flecked yarns and geometric symbols adding a contemporary chicness to chunkier pieces.
The palette was quiet and nuanced, with mid tones like beige and grey punctuating more intense shades of khaki green, iris purple and lobster orange. Sumptuous materials like velvet added a tasteful richness, while small leather and knit accessories emphasised the quality of craftsmanship Cucinelli has come to represent. Time-honoured footwear classics like Chelsea boots, derbies and loafers complimented the balance of innovation and tradition, using ultra-lightweight outsoles and pale colours to update the classic shapes.
