Check it out through the end of the month.
What’s more British than two historical British brands joining forces? London’s landmark department store Harrods is teaming up with Burberry on an immersive experience that’ll last through the end of the month. The takeover starts at the windows — the shop’s signature green awnings are reimagined as peeled-back tent canopies in a seasonal Burberry check print while camping components such as ropes, draped waterproof fabrics and carabiners are scattered throughout. By night, the entire building will be covered up in Knight Blue, the signature color of the house introduced by the current Chief Creative Officer Daniel Lee.
Playing on the idea of the great outdoors continues inside where visitors can check out a Burberry Camping Corner featuring classic British hiking accessories including a bottle opener and a hot water bottle. The brand also designed an exclusive collection of more than 40 pieces including the new Knight bag as well as a new colorway of the Box sneaker. In celebration of Harrods’ 175th anniversary, you’ll also find a custom version of the department store’s signature Harrods stuffed bears, each wearing a miniature hand-embroidered scarf. With only 175 made, these are sure to be a hot ticket item. Also certain to be popular will be a custom hamper which features a limited-edition picnic blanket.
For those who would rather pop in for a browse and a snack, there will also be a menu of British pastries and hot drinks, available from the branded food truck at Door 5 alongside a dedicated picnic space featuring blue benches. One dessert worth noting? Romney’s Kendal Mint Cake, a popular confection among explorers and mountaineers. And finally, don’t forget to greet the doormen! For the first time, Harrods’ signature green uniform is getting a Knight Blue makeover — a fitting way to round out the experience.
