The 10 Best Dressed at Cannes Film Festival Served Classic Star Glamour

Yseult in Dior and Cate Blanchett in Haider Ackermann were among our favorites.

May is a busy time for the fashion industry between The Met Gala, far-flung fashion shows, and summer collaboration drops galore. And then there’s the Cannes Film Festival, two weeks when the fashion and film worlds collide on a starry level to rival the Oscars. This year, from the 14th through the 25th, celebrities flocked to walk the red steps in the sunny South of France and watch films from around the world, with Greta Gerwig serving as judge. While everyone’s favorite Cannes-adjacent activity might be speculating which film earns the longest-standing ovation, a close second is judging the gowns and jewels on display. This year, some looks were jaw-dropping, and certainly one for the books, but other outfits are a little less memorable. See who made our top 10 favorite looks, especially a particular actress who nailed almost every look in three different Chanel outfits. Can you guess who it is?

1. MARGARET QUALLEY IN CHANEL

Chanel it-girl Margaret Qualley never disappoints us, clocking in three looks from the luxury house over the course of the festival. But it’s this light pink feathered dress, complete with star tiara that won us over.

2. MITCHELL AKAT MARAUKO IN HARVEY CENIT

All eyes certainly were on model Mitchell Akat Maruko Raan in this look, “The Wrath of Medusa,” by Harvey Cenit. The gold plate made a statement against an all-black dress and cape.

3. COCO ROCHA IN CHENEY CHAN

This flower look from Coco Rocha may have been one of the most extravagant ones, as the model chose an emerging Chinese designer for the premiere of “To the Most Precious Cargoes”.

4. DEMI MOORE IN CELINE

Celine’s Image Director, Hedi Slimane, might be amazing at tailoring, but his gowns are equally as strong as in the case of Demi Moore in an exaggerated black-and-white bow accented column dress. It’s like a little gift from him to us.

5. BELLA HADID IN SAINT LAURENT

Model Bella Hadid is known for wearing daring looks and isn’t afraid to show some skin like in this sheer Saint Laurent brown dress.

6. CATE BLANCHETT IN JEAN PAUL GAULTIER BY HAIDER ACKERMANN

One of the most iconic looks from this year’s red carpet, Blanchett’s dress paired with the red carpet was a not-so-subtle tribute to Palestine.

7. SIENNA MILLER IN CHLOE

The effervescent queen of boho chic continued her reign in a flowy baby blue gown.

8. YSEULT IN DIOR

This look takes everyone back to 1947 when Dior released his New Look, which Yseult perfectly wears in the long black skirt and cinched white blazer, complete with the matching hat, of course.

9. HUNTER SCHAFER IN ARMANI AND CHOPARD

The actress wears a fitted corset dress in a shimmery blue that plays off the multi-million dollar jewels around her neck perfectly.

10. GRETA GERWIG IN PRADA

As judge for this year’s festival, she nailed all of her looks but this custom off-the-shoulder Prada dress holds a special place in our hearts.
