The third annual CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards honored Diesel, Moncler, and more.
Over the last decade, brands have been making the move to lower their impact on the environment. From practices ranging from advocacy for the oceans to circular collections and more, there’s been a sustained effort towards sustainability. In Italy, those who make the effort are acknowledged by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, aka the CNMI. On September 22, CNMI collaborated with the Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI) and the United Nations ITC Agency on the third annual Sustainable Fashion Awards. Hosted by Frieda Pinto, prizes were given to Italian brands known for their creativity, modern vision, artistic approach, and activism for the environment.
Winners received a sculpture called the Terzo Paradiso, symbolizing artist Michelangelo Pisoletto’s third paradise. Carlo Capasa, President of CNMI, says via press release that the evening is a “significant celebration of hard work, and the stories that will be shared will be an inspiration for us all.” The night kicked off with the SFA Education of Excellence Award for the brand’s Academy for Technical Excellence, which was presented by Edward Enniful to Moncler CEO Remo Ruffini.
Other awards, like the SFA Groundbreaker Award, went to Golden Goose for their “vision for circular luxury.” Renzo Rosso, President of Diesel, alongside Selling Sunset’s Christine Quinn, who is the face of the brand, received the Ellen MacArthur Foundation Award for Circular Economy. It recognized the brand’s expansion towards more circular business models. Another notable moment was The Bicester Collection Award for Emerging Designers. Presented by Tamu McPherson, Lauren Vinay, and actress Qi Wei, awarded Peruvian-based ESCVDO. And finally, the highlight of the night was the Visionary Award, presented to Brunello Cucinelli by actress Naomie Harris.
