10 Things You Might Have Missed This Week: Fast Forward to Winter

Chanel hits the ski slopes, Prada and Saks’s holiday campaigns, and more.

Halloween isn’t until next week, but in the fashion world, it’s already the holidays. From Chanel’s ski collection hitting stores this week to festive seasonal campaigns from the likes of Prada and Saks Fifth Avenue, it feels like we’re a mere hop, skip, and leap away from the end of 2024. Isn’t that wild to think? But before you start making your New Year’s resolutions, there’s still plenty of fall left to enjoy, especially if you happen to be in Dallas and want to enjoy a bit of autumn with a British flair, courtesy of a Burberry pop-up at Neiman Marcus. Also in the seasonal spirit come new releases from the likes of Christopher John Rogers for J.Crew as well Loro Piana for both Mr. Porter and Net-a-Porter.

Read on to learn more and catch up on what else you might have missed.

What a Strange Crowd! Loewe’s Star-Studded Campaign Shot by Juergen Teller

Drew Starkey, Ambika Mod and two bodybuilders walk into a bar… this, among other unexpected combinations is the premise of Loewe’s SS25 precollection campaign. Shot by superstar photographer Juergen Teller, the images seek to present fans of the Spanish luxury brand with a commentary on the duality existing between talent and personality: human archetypes – represented by some of the creatives that have formed the ever-evolving cult around creative director Johnathan Anderson and Loewe – appear on white backgrounds alongside human stereotypes like the gardener, the bodybuilder, and the biker. Netflix’s Richard Gadd, of Baby Reindeer fame, poses next to an agriculturist with a giant vegetable, Sue Kroll beside a swim-suit-clad surfer and Leo Woodall by a very swanky looking knight. The point? To show that characters are defined by what they wear, that dress is costume and that a good sense of humour goes a long way.

Louis Vuitton Launches the Slouchy Bag

After years of tiny bag dominance, it seems that the pendulum is swinging back to styles that can actually hold more than a cell phone and a pair of keys. The latest practical yet chic handbag to know is Louis Vuitton’s hobo design. Aptly named the Slouchy, it’s a soft and malleable carryall made in the brand’s signature canvas, ensuring that it’ll only get better with time. Available in two sizes, the MM and PM, depending on how much you need to schlep around, they’re the ideal companion for the office or when you’re running errands on the weekend. And because no LV bag is complete without some signature details, you’ll notice a padlock name tag, a new addition that’s meant to connote heritage and craftsmanship. Shop it here.

A Peter Lindbergh Exhibit Not to Be Missed

Given Dior’s rich visual history, it’s easy to see why La Galerie Dior, their museum space in Paris, is able to consistently dream up exciting exhibits. The latest is particularly special: a posthumous tribute to Peter Linbergh, a longtime collaborator of the house with images that span 30 years. With the support of Lindberg’s foundation, visitors will be able to see some of his most famous photographs scattered across the many rooms, in dialogue with the pieces dreamed up by Monsieur Dior along with his successors. From Linbergh’s work for Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar to unseen contact sheets and reading prints, it’s a deep dive into one of the world’s most creative minds. One highlight not to be missed? An exclusive shoot set in the streets of New York back in October 2018 that’s never been shown to the public before. Should you be in Paris, it’ll run through May 2025. A Very Italian Holiday

Just in time for all things merry comes Prada’s festival campaign. Featuring the likes of Maya Hawke, Louis Patrirdge, Kevin Harrison Jr., and Aespa’s Karina clad in the brand’s holiday collection, the images see them gathered around what is possibly the best dressed dinner party. With a table set with branded porcelain plates and cups that nod to Prada’s signature prints, even the food is a part of the brand’s universe, as it’s laden with sweet treats from Marchesi 1824. From tiered cakes crowned with bears to a decorated Panettone, the quintessential seasonal treat, it’s the ultimate indulgence during a time when the more the merrier. What could make this evening event better? Why, a Prada bag, with several scattered like little parting gifts.

Saks is Full of Festive Delights

Speaking of the holiday season, there’s no place quite like Saks Fifth Avenue during this time of the year. The iconic department store announced their Gifts of Delight campaign that features plenty of ideas for everyone on your list along with dressing options for all of the parties on your calendar. For those who want something truly unique, there are also one-of-a-kind experiences ranging from attending Saturday Night Live to an evening dinner at L’Avenue at Saks to even featuring your dog in an upcoming campaign . This year is also a special one as it’s the 100 year anniversary of the New York City Fifth Avenue flagship. Known for their illuminated displays, expect an even bigger and splashier one to take over the windows and walls of the building.

Burberry Brings The British Outdoors to Dallas

It might still feel like summer in Dallas at the moment but cooler weather will eventually come. To get you in the mood for chillier temps, Burberry is setting up an installation at the Neiman Marcus NorthPark location. Inspired by traditional park pavilions in the U.K., a recurring theme for Daniel Lee’s last few shows, the space will be home to a selection of pieces from the latest collections as well as key accessories like the Burberry Check scarves, bags, and shoes. As always, the brand’s signature trench will be the focal point along with other outerwear, as a nod to the latest campaign, It’s Always Burberry Weather. And because no experience is complete without a food and beverage moment, you’ll also be able to enjoy flapjacks and cups of Earl Grey at the tea hatch. Check it out from now until November 10th.

Chanel’s Ready For Ski Season

Also in Juergen Teller news comes Chanel’s Coco Neige campaign, in which he photographs model Loli Bahia in the brand’s cozy ski offerings. Shot at 31 Rue Cambon Bahia makes herself at home inside Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment as well as the iconic Art Deco mirrored staircase. As for the clothes themselves, they’re a mix of technical performance wear along with chic après ready pieces. From a down jacket that features a braided embellishment to white jeans that included a jeweled button, the aesthetic is classic tinged with a bit of the 1970s. Other standouts include trompe l’oeil styles that are meant to evoke suede, including a bra, leggings, and zip-up jacket. For those who love a jumpsuit for the slopes, a black corduroy option is chic while still providing protection against the elements while a navy jacket and matching pants are a stylish separates option. Accessories are equally as covetable with a mix of quilted gloves, cowls, and retro sunglasses in addition to cozy snow boots. And of course, a snowsports collection would not be complete without some branded gear, namely black skis and poles, both featuring the classic double C logo. You can check out the collection, in stores now.

Your Second Chance to Buy H&M’s Designer Collab Pieces

It’s hard to imagine a world without high low collaborations ever since H&M launched their Karl Lagerfeld collection back in 2004. 20 years later and the retailer has worked with everyone from Simone Rocha to Versace to Stella McCartney, to great success. Given how many of these pieces would sell out within hours of their debut, plenty of customers were never able to get their hands on that special item. Well, now they’re in luck as H&M announced that they’re bringing back styles through their pre-loved initiative. Sourced via partnerships with online pre-loved marketplace Sellpy as well as global vintage retailers, there will be drops across seven global stores along with online. The two were this week, in Paris and London respectively while in the U.S., it’s slated for Sunday October 27, at H&M in Soho. Won’t be in New York? Set your calendar for October 31st, that’s when the website will offer select pieces.

A Luxurious His-and-Hers Dressing Collection

Loro Piana, everyone’s favorite quiet luxury brand, is partnering up with Mr. Porter and Net-a-Porter to create the ultimate in his-and-hers dressing. It’s a first for the Italian house, with 21 pieces slated for women while the men’s side features 34 pieces. Over at Net-a-Porter you’ll find coats, knitwear, and handbags in a neutral palette of taupe, cream, and caramel with exclusive pieces that’ll be only available at the online retailer. For Mr. Porter, you’ll be able to shop suede and shearling outerwear, tailored trousers, knitwear, suede sneakers, and baseball caps in similarly soothing hues. Classic and timeless, this is coordinated dressing for the couple who values craftsmanship and quality.

J.Crew Gets Colorful With Christopher John Rogers

Whoever is working on collaborations at J.Crew clearly knows what they’re doing, as they just announced that they’re working with Christopher John Rogers on a limited-edition womenswear and kid’s collection that hits stores this week. Rogers’ signature colorful aesthetic is a perfect match for the sporty American brand, as the two collaborated on a series of striped pieces ranging from skirts to a sweater as well as a bold blue patterned crop top and skirt set, complete with matching jacket. As a nod to the upcoming holiday party season, there are sequined dresses as well as a trouser and vest set for those who prefer an unconventional take on event dressing. But the piece that’s destined to go fast? A gold barn jacket, a glittering take on what’s become a major outerwear trend this season. Whatever the piece, they were all big hits, given that the CJR x J.Crew clad crowd all looked fantastic as they celebrated the launch over gourmet jell-o shots and fondue at Brass in New York City last evening.
