The brand announced a newly revamped NYC flagship as well as a timely seasonal campaign.
Arguably autumn is the season when Burberry thrives, given that the season begs for trench coats and cozy sweaters. And this October is an especially busy one for the brand as they have two timely launches slated. First up, the grand reopening of their iconic 57th Street store in New York. To follow an outerwear campaign appropriately titled It’s Always Burberry Weather.
The images tap into the brand’s rich outerwear heritage as inspired by a slogan from the brand’s archives. Shot across London in addition to sites within the UK, the campaign displays the durability and style of Burberry‘s iconic outerwear. A star-studded cast from the worlds of music, fashion, film, and football is featured, including Barry Keoghan, Cara Delevingne, Cole Palmer, Eberechi Eze, Little Simz, Olivia Colman, and Zhang Jingyi. Each models a reimagined version of outerwear staples, such as the trench, quilt, Harrington, puffer, parka, aviator, and duffle coats. These seven pieces pay homage to Burberry’s continuous role in embracing adventure and exploration, while protecting you from the elements.
Coinciding with this campaign is the reopening of Burberry’s historic 57th Street store in New York, a site that was first opened in 1978 as their inaugural U.S. location. The sprawling three-story space has undergone a redesign, mixing modernity with British heritage. You’ll find natural stone that’s inspired by the country’s limestone, railings that resemble those on the streets of London, and Chesterfield sofas. Even the umbrella stands are custom crafted into a B shield shape to reflect the house codes. To complement the furniture there are also rugs by Tom Alton Moore as well as tableware by David Mellor, made in conjunction with Corin Mellor and the brand’s in-house design team.
Of note in the space is an archival display that showcases six replica coats to celebrate the brand’s heritage and innovation. Key styles to note include a 1927 cotton trench, 1936 Tielocken trench, and a Puttee motoring coat. Alongside these pieces are new-season designs including the latest, the Castleford. Available for both men and women in both the peat and stoat colorway, it features Burberry’s signature lining making it a modern classic in the making. For those who prefer something else, customers will have the chance to shop the latest Winter 2024 collection, including menswear, womenswear, and accessories.
