SPAIN’S BELOVED SHA WELLNESS CLINIC LENDS ITS EXPERTISE IN DIAGNOSTIC CARE TO THE SEXUAL HEALTH CONVERSATION.

Sexual health, a subject once relegated to middle school curriculums and doctor’s offices, has become a facet of wellness as ubiquitous as maintaining a healthy diet and getting your steps in. On track to becoming a $31.6 billion global industry within just 10 years, the business of proliferating pleasure is everywhere, from the shelves of Sephora’s Intimate Care section and Cosmopolitan magazine’s first “Lube Awards,” to SHA Wellness, which introduced a sexual health unit in August. The five-star state-of-the-art clinic in southeastern Spain is not the first destination to tap into our collective libidos: The W Brisbane hotel recently offered the services of a sexologist concierge, and the Six Senses resort in Ibiza hosted a sexual wellness conference where curated talks and psychedelic breathwork helped facilitate the mind-body connection. But SHA, which specializes in a fusion of Western medicine and natural therapies for the kind of sustained longevity that has attracted guests such as Barbra Streisand and Naomi Campbell, stands out for its comprehensive approach to diagnostic care. “This is not about how many orgasms you can have,” says Cynthia Molina, a clinical psychologist and the director of the new program. “It’s about more than that—your connection, self-esteem, and comfort with yourself.” During week-long sessions, Molina uses an initial consultation and personalized diagnosis to tap a team of on-site specialists, from gynecologists and urologists to endocrinologists and laser experts, who suggest treatments such as bio-identical hormone supplementation to help ease menopausal symptoms and sessions of longitudinal shockwave therapy to address erectile dysfunction. There is even an aesthetic gynecology treatment that improves vaginal laxity and local blood circulation with non-invasive radiofrequency devices, all with sparkling views of the Mediterranean. As of this February, you can enhance that rejuvenation with a dip in the Caribbean as well at SHA’s newly opened North American outpost in Cancún, Mexico.
