Loro Piana Takes Over at Bergdorf Goodman

What could be more ideal this time of year than swaddling yourself in luxurious cashmere? For all of your cozy needs comes Loro Piana’s Bergdorf Goodman installation which takes over the legendary department store’s men’s and women’s windows from now through November 3rd. With an Art Deco feel, you’ll see a series of wooden puppets that are meant to represent Loro Piana’s artisans with each scene designed to chronicle the brand’s 100-plus year history. On the women’s side you’ll find setups like “Master of Fibers”, which tells the story of raw materials like cashmere or another that highlights baby cashmere and features miniature goats that float across a cloudy sky. The thistle flower, integral to the brand’s coat of arms, gets its own moment while sketches by Marcello Dudovich populate another window. In honor of New York City, one display has the skyline taking center stage against a kummel background as the little dolls perform quality control with miniature magnifiers and needles, while another shows an exclusive foulard created by the department store. To round it, in the evening there will be an illuminated light show that spans the facade.

Over on the men’s side, the scenery is equally as clever with one window featuring miniature vintage cars driving along Loro Piana’s signature Suitcase Stripes. Another has eight bales of fiber and are marked with the coat of arms. The third includes a quote from Pier Luigi Loro Piana “Luxury is inextricably linked to quality” woven with a wooden loom against a dark green background. Regardless of which store you enter, expect to shop plenty of exclusive products from a men’s wool overshirt to a leopard print women’s cloche hat to the Grande Unita scarf and Unito blanket, both of which can be personalized.
