Their New York City flagship is undergoing a three year renovation.
Walk by 57th Street and Fifth Avenue and you’ll notice that Louis Vuitton’s flagship is covered in custom scaffolding made to resemble a sky high stack of the brand’s signature steamer trunks. It’s truly a sight to behold, with passersby stopping in their tracks to capture a quick photo or video and those on social media wondering if it’s AI-generated. The reason behind the elaborate setup? The boutique’s undergoing a three year renovation, promising a massive and spectacular finished space come 2027. In the meantime, the luxury label is still on Billionaire’s Row, with their largest US location at 6 East 57th Street, across the street.
Set in what used to be the massive Nike flagship that closed back in 2017, the thoroughly revamped space is a sight to behold. The ambitious temporary store not only offers retail but also serves as a cultural destination, culinary spot, and love letter to New York, all rolled into one package. You’ll find five grand floors, with each level offering a unique experience. From the atrium adorned with towers of Louis Vuitton trunks to the mirrored wall of stacked bags creating a striking visual, every corner is unique. Iconic collaborations with artists like Yayoi Kusama and Takashi Murakami fill the space, celebrating Louis Vuitton’s legacy of reinvention. The interiors use raw concrete and wood with soft carpet, and a curated collection of vintage and contemporary furniture, making it a feast for the eyes.
As for the shopping experience, naturally it’s equally as luxe with dedicated spaces for women’s and men’s collections, leather goods, and even a personalized travel room. Upon entry the first floor sets the stage with an impressive collection of bags, accessories, and lifestyle items. Another spot not to be missed? The fifth floor where you’ll find private salons including a secret loft-style room that showcases Louis Vuitton’s high watches and jewelry.
A bit hungry while shopping? The fourth floor houses Le Café Louis Vuitton, a cozy and chic cafe-library hybrid that brings together French design and New York’s loft-style charm. Helmed by celebrated chefs Arnaud Donckele and Maxime Frédéric, alongside local talents Christophe Bellanca and Marie George, you’l find a menu of elevated comfort foods. Customers can treat themselves to truffle ravioli embossed with the Louis Vuitton monogram, Damier tartlets filled with seasonal ingredients, and the debut of their Parisian-favorite Croque sandwiches in the U.S. Surrounding the space is a library of books curated by editor Ian Luna, spotlighting works by New York artists and Louis Vuitton collaborators. For those with a sweet tooth, Le Chocolat Maxime Frédéric at Louis Vuitton have made their U.S. debut with chocolates crafted from the finest ingredients. Customers can indulge in signature creations like hazelnut bonbons and the whimsical Vivienne on a Malle, alongside a range of staple bars.
To commemorate this opening, Louis Vuitton launched an exclusive capsule collection inspired by New York. From bags like the new taxi-yellow Neverfull Inside Out, to charms with nods to the city’s license plates, the collection captures the spirit of the big apple with a touch of Parisian life. And to celebrate, what else but a big bash with the likes Jennifer Connelly, Bradley Cooper, Ana de Armas, Nina Debrov, Cynthia Erivo, Martha Stewart, and more, all wearing Louis Vuitton.
