Elegant, tailored, and made to be worn for years to come.
Last September COS unveiled their COS Atelier collection, a capsule devoted to taking all of the sleek, minimal basics the brand is known for and elevating it via upgraded fabrics and fashion forward styles. As a follow up, they decided to stage a show in Paris this week, as a nod to the city’s tradition of haute couture. The looks were full of easy-to-wear dresses, fantastic tailoring, and timeless pieces that will be surefire crowd pleasers. Our favorites? The slouchy suits that come in beige and black although the silk dresses and embroidered men’s shirts were also highlights as well.
The collection drops today in stores but while in Paris, we had a chance to catch up with Karin Gustafsson, Creative Director of COS Atelier. Read on to learn what inspires her and who she envisions as the perfect client.
Tell me about Cos Atelier! How does the brand differ from the COS we know and love?
Everything about COS is about longevity but with Atelier, we worked on a collection that’s a little more dressed up. In order to achieve that we researched old craft, dressmaking and couture — there’s a lot in the finishing and details. You’ll see a focus on a stronger silhouette than with COS.
Where do you go to find inspiration?
I always find New York inspiring and in Italy, I love Capri.
What are the standout pieces from this collection?
The silk slip dress with the fragile train. I also love the modular tailoring.
Who do you see as the COS Atelier person?
Nick Cave. He has such a strong sense of style.
