10 Things You Might Have Missed This Week: The Non-NYFW Edition

Call Miranda July, watch Celine’s latest collection, and more.

New York Fashion Week has come and gone, with plenty of parties, shows, and viral moments. With the fashion set moving on to London this weekend, the fall rush is in full swing, as evident by the slew of ads, new collection drops, and collaborations news. For Prada, they’re working with Miranda July on a clever campaign that involves giving July a call while Louis Vuitton is releasing a capsule collection designed for fall and holiday dressing. Hedi Slimane, not done with Celine quite yet, has a new campaign video out to celebrate the brand’s spring 2025 collection that’s filled with English references. And speaking of British culture Miu Miu is staging a pop-up called Miu Balmoral that could not be more quintessentially fall.

Read on to learn more and catch up on what else you might have missed.

Now You Can Give Miranda July a Ring

Prada has teamed up with filmmaker, artist, and writer Miranda July to transform their Fall/Winter 2024 campaign, Now That We Are Here, into an interactive experience. Reimagining the traditional ad campaign’s themes of communication and human connection, the collaboration introduces The Miranda July Hotline, a unique way for the public to engage with the art. Starting September 2nd, billboards in cities like New York, Milan, and Bangkok will tease a toll-free number where anyone can call in and chat with July, following a playful, pre-written script. It’s a brilliant mix of tech and nostalgia that lets you eavesdrop on conversations that never happened, giving a whole new meaning to phone a friend.

Louis Vuitton Keeps It Formal

Just in time for fall’s back to work and winter’s holiday needs comes Louis Vuitton’s New Formal collection. Blending classic tailoring with modern twists, Men’s Creative Director Pharrell Williams adds fresh elements to the line by introducing show-stopping pieces like the Damoflage evening jacket and jewel-toned velvet tuxedos. Expect modern takes on the classics alongside leather goods like the sharp Taiga Avenue Messenger to the versatile Georges Pouch. It’s in stores now for those who want to get ahead of their festive season needs.

Miu Miu Goes Brit

While they’re better known for their downtown meets French girl vibes, Miu Miu is going English for their next endeavor. The brand is bringing a twist to classic Brit style with their new Miu Balmoral pop-up store with a blend of conservative and rebellious fashion statements. Inspired by the fall 2024 runway, these pop-ups are landing in Tokyo, Osaka, Shanghai, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Seoul, and for the first time, online. Alongside Argyle knits, waxed cotton overcoats, and Church’s X Miu Miu brogues, you can also find the new Penny bag, with exclusive sheepskin and Prince of Wales versions. Celebrating contrasts, this new pop-up combines oversized and shrunken, masculinity and femininity, and formal with informal, all blended together.

Loewe Takes Over Saks

No brand is hotter right now than Loewe and now Jonathan Anderson is taking his creative eye to Saks. The two are teaming up with windows that feature a blooming garden, visual installations within the space as well as a juice bar. Being that the fall 2024 collection features plenty of produce, you’ll also notice sculptures featuring vegetables in the space as well. As for the clothes and accessories? You’ll find a selection of pieces from the new season as well as exclusives including five limited edition Squeeze bags. Covered in 20,000 beads they feature the painter Albert York’s work. The display at Saks will be on until September 23rd on the main and third floors.

The 1,600-square-foot space, designed in collaboration with Swedish studio Halleroed, blends classic New York architecture and the brand’s signature style. Blackpink’s Jisoo might have made a surprise in New York but she’s still a Dior woman at heart. The brand’s Lady Dior bag is taking center stage in their stunning new campaign featuring the singer and actress. Shot by Bibi Borthwick, the campaign captures the K-pop idol’s magnetic presence against a minimalist black-and-white backdrop, showcasing her blend of power, delicacy, and modern femininity. Jisoo showcases different iterations of the timeless bag, each reflecting its elegance and Dior’s craftsmanship with the signature cannage motif, and those unmistakable charms.

Celine Goes Anglomania For Their Men’s Spring 2025 Collection

When you’re Hedi Slimane and you burn it all down in Los Angeles, how do you follow it up? Jaunt off to England for Celine’s Spring 2025 collection, of course. For Slimane, this direction makes sense — as a student at the École du Louvre he wrote an essay on Anglomania, making this a full circle moment 30 years later. Titled The Bright Young, the short film highlights tailoring in all its glory featuring summer-weight cashmere and wool. Trimmed jackets, cricket and boating blazers feature prominently, with the trompe l’oeil pieces hand-embroidered in the brand’s couture ateliers. Also in the mix are heraldic patches in silver cannetilles coiling — a nod to 20th century military uniform tradition. And because what would an English theme be without an ode to lush gardens you’ll also find damask and floral waistcoats as well. Finally you’ll also see tailcoats as well as gilets, the latter of which has an English Gothic motif made from sequins, crystals, and pearls. To complete the mood Slimane also designed black bicycles for the theme complete with wicker baskets that are adorned with flowers for the film set. See the complete collection video here.

Tod’s and Rahul Mishra Ode to Indian Craftsmanship

Though Tod’s is slated to show their spring 2025 collection in Milan, they’re making a quick stopover in London to celebrate their collaboration with Indian designer Rahul Mishra. The collection, a Tod’s Factory project, combines Indian and Italian craftsmanship. Mishra reinterprets the brand’s classics like the Gommino as well as their Di bag (named after the late Princess Diana) and the Tod’s T Timeless style. Featuring hand-embroidered designs by skilled Kaarigar artisans, the vivid floral designs reference the Tree of Life cover a pair of loafers and as well as mules. On the Di and T Timeless bags you’ll find gold zari, crystal beads, and sequins, transforming it into a couture accessory. For those who want a little maximalism with their classicism, look no further.
