Whether your idea of transformative beauty is a sybaritic massage, a stop-them-in-their-tracks perfume, or a lip color that changes with the light, there will be something to thrill you this spring. Plus, we’ve got flower-powered skincare, the ‘it’ eyeshadow shade, and nail treatments that are not to be missed.
Inside Guerlain’s new jewel-box Park Avenue spa.
The Guerlain Wellness Spa, which opened last December at the newly refurbished Waldorf Astoria Hotel, exponentially raises New York’s luxury R&R game. At 22,000 square feet, it is the largest Guerlain spa in the world—and quite possibly the largest spa in Manhattan— encompassing 16 treatment rooms (each named after a Guerlain perfume), a cryotherapy chamber, an infra-red sauna and steam room, a Moroccan hammam, and an ice room for contrast therapy.
The menu of exclusive treatments, designed by Guerlain’s head of wellness and aesthetic creation Amélie Demange, offers far more than the standard lifting/hydrating facial protocols one might expect: in Like Clockwork, a mind-body treatment inspired by the Waldorf Astoria’s famed lobby clock (a gift from Queen Victoria in 1893), synchronized sounds and binaural frequencies are channeled through a vibroacoustic massage table to enhance relaxation and mental clarity. There are also multi-day wellness programs and retreats, and deluxe facials (featuring Guerlain’s divinely regenerative Orchidée Imperiale skincare) that can be booked in multiple sessions (up to eight).
The spa’s pièce de résistance? A multitasking gizmo called the Guerlain LongeviSkin, which unites seven types of skin technologies—LED, plasma, microcurrent, micropeel, ultrasound, cryotherapy, and radiofrequency—in one device. Strap on the AI virtual reality goggles and drift blissfully over oceans or forests while your face and body are contoured, resurfaced, and completely revitalized.
