LET’S TWIST AGAIN
Pieter Mulier’s stunning SS25 Alaïa show was the highlight of New York Fashion Week. Revealed at the landmark Guggenheim museum—where Monsieur Alaïa was famously feted by Stephanie Seymour and friends in 2004—Mulier’s collection played deftly with proportion and exhibited extreme nuance. Initial looks included bandeau tops and flouncy skirts or peplum-adorned trousers that flowed easily as the models sashayed down the corkscrew ramp of the venue’s famed rotunda. Then came beautifully structured coats in shades of pink and white paired with dainty sandals, followed by swoon-worthy cutout dresses that nodded to Matisse’s organic, free-flowing shapes. The flawlessly executed catwalk was matched by the attendant A-lister crowd – Rihanna, Linda Evangelista, Liv Tyler, and Amber Valletta were among those sitting front row to welcome Mulier and his ethereal looks to the city – and we couldn’t take our eyes off it all.
