10 Questions with Charlize Theron

The face of Breitling’s Navitimer collection on watch memories, snacks, and the best advice she’s ever received.

Despite fashion week officially kicking off on Friday with Peter Do’s debut at Helmut Lang, the parties have already begun. Last night, to celebrate the launch of two new lines in Breitling’s Navitimer collection, the 36mm and 32mm styles, the brand asked actor and producer Charlize Theron as well as American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Misty Copeland to host a talk meets performance meets celebration. 

The joyful night began with motivating performances by the ABT Studio Company and jazz drummer Eric Harland, followed by a screening of Navitimer – For the Journey, the campaign film which stars the actor. To round it out, a panel moderated by The Meteor’s Cindi Leive featured a discussion between Theron and Copeland on being a career woman, on time and on their personal journey in life. 

Earlier in the evening 10 USA caught up with Theron on her favorite watch memory, midnight snack and her most-desired superpower. 

1) What makes Breitling special to you?

It feels timeless.

2) What’s your favorite watch memory?

I have a watch of my dad’s.

3) What’s an essential part of your morning routine?

Brushing my teeth.

4) Lip gloss or lip stick? Why?

Oh look at me, I’m wearing lip gloss tonight but I don’t have to do lip gloss.

5) One superpower you wish you had?

Uh… be invisible?!

6) Can you tell us about the story of your first watch? 

I was like 13 and I think my mom just got me a cheap ladie’’s watch. It was really small and there was this feeling like somehow I was going to participate in life because I had a watch on my arm. It was quite a good feeling.

7) What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever given or received?

The best advice that I’ve ever been given is try everything.

8) What’s your midnight snack of choice?

Potato chips.

9) What fashion era are you nostalgic of?

I love what we’re doing right now with the 90s. I like the early 90s.
