Kick back, relax, pour a cup of tea, pull up a cosy armchair and take some well-deserved time to secretly perv over some of our all-time favourite creative minds. Immerse yourself in their paintings, sculptures, ornaments, occasional potted plants and a stack of good books. We do love a bit of memorabilia and paraphernalia. Today we take a step inside the home of Giorgio Guidotti – worldwide communication and PR vice president, the Max Mara Fashion Group.
What’s your most prized possession?
“Does it have to be an object? Because my most prized possession is my job. I spend most of my day working and I like my job. It gives me a great life. I’ve worked for Max Mara for more than 30 years. I went to Max Mara from school and I’m still here. I’m almost like an endangered species. One of my hashtags
is #IWantToLiveLikeGuidotti.”
What dream time would make your home all that more special?
“It would have to be good paintings. I don’t want to say Rothko because he had such a tragic life, but I would say a beautiful Lucio Fontana painting, or something more contemporary by Kara Walker. Actually, I would like a nice Picasso painting – a cubist Picasso. Why not?”
What’s the key to keeping your humble abode a happy one?
“I like the location in Turtle Bay, Manhattan, and I have beautiful light. I’ve kept a place here for 20 years on the 26th floor. In Europe we don’t have this eagle’s view. I don’t have a terrace – I would be terrified – but I think at this point in my career I deserve the light. I am surrounded by the things I like in New York. My home is almost like a flea market. It doesn’t matter if it’s a little puppet I bought at the vintage market or a nice painting or a nice chair, I don’t care if my things are co-ordinated, but it cheers me up when I wake up being surrounded by the objects that I like. That, and good Porto sheets.”
