Quiet luxury? Eat your heart out. To a chorus of moans and groans, the Dsquared2 twins continued to lean into their Noughties origins for SS24. After last season’s low-slung, hedonistic, Y2K fest, Dean and Dan Caten charged forward with skimpy mini-dresses, budgie smugglers and washboard abs, basing their collection on the idea of a waspy country club member trying to become a pornstar. Alongside actual pornstars walking the catwalk, including Italian stallion Rocco Siffredi, were supermodel Esther Cañadas and Julia Fox, who were part of a chorus of ‘90s fringed tourist tees, rugby tops, sheer sweater vests, and star-laden denim.
Trucker hats and baby tees were on the agenda, as were stuffy skirt suits which were shrunken to micro-proportions and dyed hot pink. Backstage, the duo described the show as “Elites meet snob. Snob meets knob,” summarised when Siffredi got to the end of the catwalk, unbuttoned his jeans and flashed his undies. “VIP,” they read. That stands for Very Important Penis. Never change, boys, never change.
