Tod’s Has a New Creative Director

The brand announced Matteo Tamburini today.

Talk about a busy Friday. First came word of Matthew M. Williams parting ways with Givenchy and now we have another designer announcement from Tod’s. The brand has appointed Matteo Tamburini as Creative Director of both men’s and women’s collections. Tamburini succeeds Walter Chiapponi, who departed for Blumarine. “[He] is a talented creative. His modern vision of high quality and Italian lifestyle will definitely bring an added value to our brand. Tamburini will develop a creative team of highly skilled people with an in-depth understanding of the luxury world” says Diego Della Valle, President and CEO of Tod’s Group via the press release.

While Tamburini might not be a familiar name, he’s held positions at major luxury brands, most recently at Bottega Veneta, where he’s been since 2017. “I am honored and excited to join the Tod’s family and become part of a brand that is so closely tied to my origins and memories. I identify myself with the brand’s values and the continuous pursuit of high quality and style it has undertaken until now, and I look forward to contributing with my expertise”, he says. His first collection debuts February 2024.
