The 10 Best Dressed at the Academy Awards

Sandra Hüller in Schiaparelli, Carey Mulligan in Balenciaga are among our favorites.

After an impressive awards season red carpet, tonight brings it all to a big end with the Academy Awards. Did everyone save the best for last? For our Oscars 2024 best dressed list, we’d argue that these celebrities did. Sandra Hüller instantly caught our eye, making an appearance in custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture accented with a Cartier necklace. Given that she was also the face of Phoebe Philo’s second drop, Hüller has definitely asserted her love of intellectual brands and strong silhouettes. Carey Mulligan, in custom Balenciaga couture, also chose a striking gown that was based off a Cristobal Balenciaga mermaid design from 1951. Worn with gloves, it was certainly equal parts statement-making and elegant.

This season has seen the likes of Greta Lee and Colman Domingo consistently showing up on the red carpet in stylish looks and tonight was no different. Domingo opted for yet another Louis Vuitton tailored suit with flared trousers while Lee’s black-and-white Loewe dress literally walked the runway a little over a week ago. Speaking of Louis Vuitton, tonight proved to be a big one for them as the brand also dressed best supporting Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph in a glamorous feathery gown while friend of the house Emma Stone brought back the peplum.

The cast of Barbie made a strong showing, especially America Ferrera in a slinky pink custom Atelier Versace and Ryan Gosling, who chose a louche Gucci suit trimmed with rhinestones. To round out the list, Zendaya in tropical Armani Privé was refreshing while the likes of Yi Yan Fuei and Chang Li Hua, better known as the titular Nai Nai and Wai Po, in custom Rodarte put a smile on everyone’s faces.
