While Paris 2024 c’est fin (stay tuned for the Paralympics), Dior has officially given Rihanna the gold, giving us the first glimpse of her J’Adore campaign after announcing the the Bajan badgal as the new face of its fragrance in June.
Photographed by Steven Klein, the singer and beauty mogul looks like the human embodiment of an Oscar – with flowing golden locks paired and stacks of pearls backdropped by Versailles’ Hall of Mirrors. Joining Golden Girl J’Adorites before her, Carmen Kass and Charlize Theron, RiRi is part of a 25-year legacy with a personal connection to the fragrance. “My mother worked in a perfume shop,” she tells British Vogue. “She used to bring home the J’adore testers when they were almost empty, so there was always a bottle in the house. I have always loved this perfume.”
The new edition of the fragrance, L’Or de J’adore, comes courtesy of Frances Kurkdijan featuring notes of rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, violet and lily of the valley. The campaign will be accompanied by a campaign film – à la Theron stripping down to her birthday suit – set to drop on September 1. Watch this space.
