Prada’s FW25 collection is an ode to raw glamour.
The house’s co-creative directors, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, stripped the idea of womenswear down to its studs and reexamined it in a show that featured unconventional proportions and materials.Womanhood is not a monolith and the style spectrum is vast. Be it an LBD with exposed seams, a voluminous shearling coat with a nipped-in waist, or a leather skirt suit in the form of an A-line jacket and matching micromini. The choose-your-own-adventure of it all extended to rescaling traditional silhouettes that reconfigure as the wearer moves, in a sort of sartorial metaphor for the nimbleness and agility required to get through the day.
Accessories were there to add a bit of sweetness. The new Tumulte bag provided a delicate contrast via accordion-like sides and double chain. The Dada bag also debuted—alongside one of those deconstructed LBDs—with its thin straps and draped design. Created using supple, hand-cut nappa leather, the bag looks delicate but is anything but. A shoulder strap acts as a belt that cinches the middle, as if accentuating a slinky waist. Its muted colorways—black, silvery gray, cream, and taupe—make this piece a go-anywhere addition for dedicated Pradaphiles, no matter what mood they are dressing for that day.
BEHIND THE SEAMS: The Dada is made of rich nappa leather, which is manually cut by artisans to follow the bag’s pattern. The leather strap and buckle are stitched and finished, before being passed through the bag’s eyelets. After the lining is inserted, the Dada’s signature draping is created by adjusting the shoulder strap to the perfect length.
