Bottega Veneta is Taking Over an Iconic Sao Paulo Destination

They’re setting up an 11 day cultural program at the famed Casa de Vidro.

Design lovers who head to Sao Paulo, Brazil make it a point to pay a visit to Casa de Vidro. The glass house by Lina Bo Bardi is the perfect example of Brazilian modernism, seamlessly meshing clean lines against a lush green landscape. For Matthieu Blazy, creative director Bottega Veneta, it’s also one of his favorite places in the world, making it the obvious choice for the third installment of The Square, a cultural exchange series that launched in 2022 with stops in Dubai and Tokyo.

Marking the brand’s 10-year anniversary in Brazil, the 11 day long series celebrates the country’s culture by bringing together artists, guests, and the public by creating site-specific immersive events. Curated with Mari Stockler, the programming will center around four themed pathways that relate to time, geometry and spirituality, Brazilian counterculture, and the roots of Bossa Nova. Guests will be able to take a different route to the house and garden and on opening day there will also be an artist talk as well.

“The event is designed as a dialogue. We provoke time by contrasting Lina’s objects with works by modern and contemporary artists in an exchange between past, present, and possible futures,” says Stockler via the press release. Featuring the likes of poet and musician Arnaldo Antunes, sculptor Leda Catunda, artist Luiz Zerbini among others there will also be pieces by Lygia Pape, Hélio Oiticica, Augusto de Campos, and many more, Guests will also be able to see Bo Bardi’s own creations, writings, and original furnishings housed in Casa de Vidro. In honor of the event four books, based on the pathways, will be published in a limited-edition boxed set.

The Square São Paulo opens on May 24 and will be open to the public from May 26 to June 3.
