Chanel’s New High Jewellery Collection Is Informed By The House’s Tweeds

After some bling to match your pristine, Chanel two-piece tweed suit? The house’s Fine Jewellery Creation Studio, led by director Patrice Leguéreau, presents a 63-piece collection informed by Gabrielle Chanel’s love of all things British tweed.

Unveiled in time for the V&A’s major exhibition on the influential designer – which will follow Chanel’s work from 1910 to 1971 – opening this September, the collection sees tweed sets reimagined as uber luxurious necklaces, broaches, earrings, rings and bracelets, each crafted from precious stones.

Following a 2020 High Jewellery collection which featured 45 tweed-inspired pieces, this time around Leguéreau wanted “to go further in the interpretation by creating a veritable fabric of precious stones that is light and supple”.

Separated into five chapters, the savoir-faire of the house’s jewellers is on full display with this year’s offering. Tweed weaves are mimicked in five different hues, featuring a slew of signature house motifs – including the camellia, the sun and the lion. Utilising minuscule hinges and platinum threads, the radiance of the gemstones are maximised, accented with interwoven, precious metals. With a light, airy finish, it doesn’t get much more exquisite than this.
