Jingle Bells is out; “Christmas Bitch” is in. This festive season, a new provocative holiday tune from East London musician Fi McCluskey and performance artist Sharon Le Grand is hitting the shelves, all wrapped up in a big, gay bow. “The lyrics are pure filth! And the beat is pure ecstasy!” reads the release, and it’s not wrong. With its raunchy libretto, the song completely reinterprets the concept of a Christmas carol. Frankly, “Christmas Bitch” is a naughty anthem, produced by Quinn Whaley of Paranoid London, with all the queer trimmings one could ever want on their wish list.
The punchy, stop-motion-style video, which stars Princess Julia, Roy Brown (Aka Roy Inc), Ms.G and John Sizzle – the pinnacle members of London’s queer nightlife scene – was directed and animated by DJ-turned-video director Josh Quinton who created a surreal, frosted Christmas set. With a retro feel and poppy visuals, McCluskey and Le Grand dance on chimneys and around humble chalets in candy cane coloured wrapping paper dresses and sky-high stiletto Santa boots – the pair really said “ho ho ho” this Christmas.
Available now on all major streaming platforms, it’s time to do as the song says: “Move your bum! Wiggle your hips! Shake your tits! Because it’s… Christmas Bitch!”
Film by Josh Quinton and Emma Jones. Song by Fi McCluskey and Sharon Le Grand.
