Matthew Williams is finally hitting his stride at Givenchy. His version of modern elegance came good for SS24.
Shown in a white open ended tent on the Left Bank, the collection honed in on what every chic 21st century girl needs. A roomy well-cut coat, over a wisp of a dress, a great shoe, a sheer tight plus a sprinkling of diamonds and pearls. Add sleek hair and make-up and you have a winning formula. His clothes marry modernity with a hint of sexuality – semi-sheer and cut away at the back, those wispy chiffon dresses come in nude tones, black and the palest yellow. The show closed with a parade of tuxedos and long black gowns, some as light as veils other trimmed with delicate lace, all of them drop dead elegant.
