Capturing that enchanting essence of an Italian summer – the sun-kissed days, ocean views and salty breezes – Gucci Lido is the newest capsule collection from the historic house. A sprightly collection of summer garb, Sabato De Sarno found his point of departure in the charming beach clubs, referred to as ‘lidos’, that adorn Italy’s picturesque coastlines.
Featuring a timeless range of swimwear, resort wear and accessories, the iconic Gucci Jackie and GG Marmont bags take centre stage. Reimagined for the summer in straw-effect raffia and canvas variations, the bags exhibit a laid-back charm that effortlessly complements coastal living. Elsewhere, GG monogram canvas crops up across the Gucci Luce and Moon Side bags while additional accessories, such as slides, trainers and a silk scarf, bring modern Day-Glo details to classic Gucci silhouettes.
Arriving as both an image series and a short film lensed by French photographer Anthony Seklaoui, the campaign feels like a fresh breath of seaside air. Models frolic and swim in a crystal blue pool, alongside Gucci monogram sun-loungers, tables and parasols.
Jet setting to some of the world’s most famous resort destinations to celebrate the launch, the house is hosting a series of in-store Gucci Lido pop-ups. From Porto Cervo and Capri to the Hamptons and Saint-Tropez, punters can discover exclusive pieces from the Gucci Lido collection in the midst of the environment that inspired it.
Inviting exclusive guests into the seaside mystique of Gucci Lido, a private and exclusive retreat at Hotel Il Pellicano, which sits along the Tuscan coast, will also take place between May 24 to May 26. Offering the opportunity to revel in a curated getaway that celebrates not just the art of Italian hospitality, but the beauty of the Mediterranean landscape too.
