The Ultimate Collaboration For Beauty Lovers

Dame Pat McGrath and Nicholas Ghesquière team up for Louis Vuitton Beauté.

Despite only launching last year, Louis Vuitton Beaute in its short lifespan has already amassed an impressive range from signature lipstick shades and leather accessories to, more recently, a classic lip liner. And now, the lineup gets a new addition, just in time for the 130th anniversary of the Louis Vuitton monogram. To celebrate the milestone, you’ll find a special beauty collaboration between Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière and Creative Director of Cosmetics Dame Pat McGrath. Drawing inspiration from the iconic Monogram Dune and Monogram Infarouage, the capsule collection brings together the type of perfect woman that Louis Vuitton stands for.

For the past twenty years, McGrath has been a strong creative force behind the beauty looks seen on prior runways. When Ghesquière joined the house, the creative expression changed. Yet the two have shared numerous fashion seasons and have established a powerful relationship over the years, built on trust and instinct. This is seen in the new capsule collection, with an emphasis on that intimate partnership, allowing for the creation of a limited edition of La Beauté Louis Vuitton.

“With La Beauté Louis Vuitton, we are extending that vision beyond the runway. It’s a way of allowing the Louis Vuitton woman to carry that expression into her everyday life,” says Ghesquière. While McGrath says, “What we have created with this collection for La Beauté is the natural next step of that conversation…that is what makes it so extraordinary. It is not a collaboration in the traditional sense. It is an evolution of our partnership.”

Adopting the iconic Monogram Dune and Monogram Infrarouge as canvases, it’s a fresh approach to the idea of beauty and honors women who have always worn Louis Vuitton in their own ways. Bringing in the limited-edition collection of eyeshadows and lipsticks that tell two different stories, Monogram Dune is for someone who is a fan of soft beige and nude tones, while Monogram Infrarouge is for a bold red lip and brighter colors.

Monogram Dune is warmth and grace, with soft beiges and sun-warmed nudes, giving off the idea of a second skin. With an eyeshadow palette ranging from icy white to rose gold, grey, and anise, it still allows the skin to retain its natural color. Even the Monogram Dune satin lipstick is a light, sun-warm tone, giving the lips a nice beige color. Or, the Stellar Veil Topper lip balm allows for a sparkly, lightweight product to be applied to the lips.

Monogram Infrarouge, on the other hand, is ideal for more dramatic flair. With bright reds, it adds intensity, day or night. The eyeshadow palette has a rosy beige, a nice taupe, a sparkly anthracite, and a sleek velvet burgundy. The satin lipstick brings a new approach to the infamous Monogram Rouge, with a touch of black that gives it a more modern, bolder look than ever.  The Galactic Veil Topper lip balm, with glitter, offers the same effect as a lipstick, albeit more subtle.

And of course, the packaging is a big part of the story. Featuring a compact for the eyeshadow palette as well as new lipstick tubes, each have their own distinctive visual identity, You’ll see warm rose-gold hardware and matte aluminum for Dune, while Infrarouge is dark black and red. Designed to be treasured and stand the test of time, the brand is offering recyclable refills for eyeshadow, lipstick, and lip balm. To finish, Monogram Dune and Monogram Infrarouge come with a line of small leather accessories, from lipstick pouches to mini vanities, because what is a celebration of the Monogram without those? The capsule collection is available now.
