Mugler: Ready-To-Wear AW24

Casey Cadwallader at Mugler has theatre in his heart. For AW24 he staged a three-act revue show, full of dramatic curtain drops and a supermodel cast that included Precious Lee and Paloma Elsesser, Kristen McMenamy, Eva Herzigova and Farida Khelfa. He gives his girls plenty to work with. Curve creating cuts and corsetry, ergonomic body-cons, futuristic fetish wear, old fashioned capital ‘G’ glamour born of the hair, make-up, hips and heels school of style. This was a sashay fest to remember. Each model more fierce than the last – all of them expressing the empowering magic of Mugler.

He’s done catsuits and sheer panels and cut outs, now the designer is expanding his Mugler vocabulary to include fluttering asymmetric panels that trail as you stride past. In leather or silk they worked to enhance the models in motion.

He played a deft game of conceal and reveal, with deep V-necklines for men and women and an itsy-bitsy bustier that only covered to top of the breast. Tailoring was teutonic – wide shouldered coats and jackets were worn with padded leather breast plates. Winged hip contours and wired necklines made the clothes look as though they could take flight. These sizzling silhouettes are ready to soar.
