It’s the third edition of their collaboration with the United Nations Populations Fund.
On the eve of International Women’s Day, March 7th, the Prada Group announced the third edition of their collaboration with the United Nations Populations Fund better known as UNFPA. Fashion Expressions: The Stories She Wear uses skills training to promote sexual and reproductive health in addition to combatting gendered violence. The initiative highlights that fashion is never just about clothes — it’s always been about the lives we lead wearing them and the possibilities they may inspire.
By keeping the program in Querétaro, Mexico, this next phase will build on the work of the second edition of Fashion Expressions by empowering the last cohort of 26 artisans to act as mentors for the incoming class of 20 young women aged 25-28. Running from April 2025 to February 2026, this two-part initiative will begin with six-months dedicated to developing technical and creative skills followed by modules on financial literacy and business development, culminating in the creation of a fashion collection. By focusing on preserving traditional crafts while promoting sustainable techniques, this partnership seeks to impart the skills needed to independently manage and grow their businesses.
Alongside these technical trainings, participants will also receive lessons on gender equity and human rights and be connected with information on available counseling and support services. Tackling gendered violence and negative health outcomes as a cohort, the result is a network of artisans that can empower each other and continue their practice of skill sharing—passing down the images and styles that share their proud history long after this program ends. Of note in this latest iteration: the Prada Group will provide opportunities for Prada staff to engage directly with participants. One question now emerges — when’s the Prada x Querétaro collaboration dropping?
