Clothes made for when the world is too much.
Life in 2025 can be best summarized in one word: overwhelming. The phone in your hand? It can both connect you to virtually anyone on Earth while also plummeting you down an endless rabbit hole as you doomscroll. Rather take a break by disconnecting with a walk? Distractions abound, even if they’re simply the thoughts inside your head. No one is immune, not even Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons. And it’s with this in mind that Prada spring 2026 was designed as a reaction to contemporary cultural overload.
What does dressing for a world of infinite choice look like? In their hands, it begins and ends simply with a uniform. Both the opening and closing looks were utilitarian shirts and matching trousers that at first glance seemed to be jumpsuits. It’s the type of clothing one would throw on without a thought, knowing full well that it was perfect for whatever the day brings, especially when accessorized with dangly earrings or fantastic opera length satin gloves. But of course, with Prada it’s never simply about a practical uniform. As the looks unfolded, the collection grew more eccentric and colorful. If we’re paralyzed by decision fatigue, then thank god we have Mrs. Prada and Simons to help make the choice for us.
Matching shirts and trousers translated to teeny bandeaus paired with mixed material skirts, with the idea of juxtaposition as an act of creation. As for the tops, while they were technically called brassieres, they along with the bralettes that dotted the looks weren’t exactly your typical functional underpinnings. Created without elastic or underwire, they served to cover the chest and were more of an idea. The same can be said about the skirts, with some being sheer pinafores that were suspended from the shoulders and dipped below the waist. Per the show notes, Mrs. Prada and Simons wanted to radically reconsider the fundamental property of clothes, reflecting an ability to shift and change, similar to how we must do the same when the world is in flux.
If all this seems theoretical and intellectual, don’t overthink it. The collection is also filled with plenty of highly covetable designs. From the oversized Barbour-style jackets to the button downs embroidered with a Prada crest that cheekily nodded to prep culture to the colorful bubble skirts tucked under candy colored dresses, the looks had all of the quirky bits that Prada fans crave. And in an overloaded world, maybe the best way to calm the mind is to simply revel in beautiful things.
