THE MYSTERIOUS MR LAGERFELD 

As the 2023 Met Gala approaches – its highly-anticipated theme set to celebrate the late and great Karl Lagerfeld who was one of the most flamboyant and recognisable figures in fashion – what better a time to announce award-winning director Michael Waldman’s new documentary film, The Mysterious Mr Lagerfeld. In search of the legendary man behind those shadowy black Chanel sunglasses, Waldman tracks down the designer’s inner circle and even meets Choupette – Lagerfeld’s cat and a rumoured heir to his fortune. The Mysterious Mr Lagerfeld will air on BBC Two April 26, at 9pm, and on BBC iPlayer. THE BOTTEGA VENETA AND GAETANO PESCE EXHIBITION: ‘VIENI A VEDERE’

“People who say we are all the same – fuck them!” says Gaetano Pesce about his late, and temporary, site-specific artwork that became the show space for the Summer ’23 Bottega Veneta show. For a second time around Pesce works with the fashion house to create a unique installation called ‘Vieni s Vedere’ (Come and see). Spanning the store, the immersive installation utilises resin and fabric to create a unique experience that the visitor travels through. It frames an edition of handbags realised by Bottega Veneta for the artist according to his designs. You can visit the installation for a week only, from April 15 to 22, where the artist’s edition of handcrafted handbags can also be purchased. So don’t walk, run! Holly Wilson

POPPY JONES AT THE ARTIST ROOM 

Following her inclusion in the gallery’s inaugural group exhibition Windows in October 2021, The Artist Room announces new exhibition with Poppy Jones, open now until April 22. The rising artist is recognised for her sensitive and intimate paintings depicting a range of recognisable phenomena: jackets, lamps, water glasses, flowers, candles, curtains, and plants among them. Her characteristic process of combining oil and lithographic techniques with a carefully applied watercolour process was first developed in the lockdown and acts as the magic behind her intense interplay of light and shadow. HOMECOMING FESTIVAL’S 5TH ANNIVERSARY FESTIVITIES  

Homecoming festival returned to Lagos last weekend in celebration of its 5th anniversary. ERL IS OFF TO PITTI UOMO

Eli Russell Linnetz’s ERL is set to show its latest collection at the 104th Pitti Uomo. In the five years since he launched ERL, Santa Monica-based designer and former Kim Jones collaborator Eli Russell Linnetz has ticked off a a whole slew of the boxes that stand for success in the fashion sphere. The one thing he hasn’t done is stage his own catwalk, releasing ERL’s quirky collections via lookbooks and appointments instead. But that’s all about to change. On Wednesday June 14, Russell Linnetz will show his SS24 collection at the Florentine menswear fair, following in the formidable footsteps of former guest designers, including Jil Sander, Wales Bonner and most recently Martine Rose.
