Plus Toteme launches jewelry, Givenchy and Dolce & Gabbana have new books.
This weekend Formula 1 hits the Las Vegas strip, marking the first time the race has been held in that city. Of course, to commemorate the occasion there will be merch. Sacai partnered up with Mercedes-AMG on a line of jackets and shirts while A$AP Rocky debuted his buzzed about partnership with PUMA. Speaking of debuts, Céline is introducing bath and body products into their perfume line while Tôteme is venturing into the jewelry space. Read on to see what else you missed this week.
Celine Wants to Make Your Bath Luxurious
Back in 2019 Celine introduced fragrance, with 11 unisex perfumes designed by Hedi Slimane. Earlier this year they followed up with solid soaps. Now the brand is diving fully into bath and body products with the launch of Cologne Céleste. Consisting of an eau de cologne, body and hair oil, bath milk, as well as soap, the new scent features notes of orange blossom, lemon essence, angelica, ambrette, and orris. Each is meant to complement one another, creating a bathing ritual that draws inspiration from Slimane’s olfactory journal and its themes of private moments, childhood comforts, and familiar gestures.
Tôteme Introduces Jewelry
Fans of Scandinavian minimalism are going to be thrilled to note that everyone’s favorite cool girl brand Tôteme is now offering jewelry. Inspired by bold architectural forms and intended to be the foundation of your jewelry collection, the line will include both fine and brass options. Over in the fine category, you’ll find diamond-set midi rings as well as a chain necklace, both made in 18 carat recycled gold and conflict-free stones. For those looking for something at a lower price point, the signature pieces consist of a bangle, hoop earrings, and a collar necklace all made with 18 carat gold-plated brass, with some pieces inset with neutral toned enamel. To showcase the pieces the brand tapped Steven Meisel to shoot model Vivienne Rohner. You can shop the entire collection starting tomorrow, November 18.
Sacai and Mercedes-AMG Team Up on Merch
With all eyes on Las Vegas this weekend as F1 debuts, brands are getting in on the action. In the case of Mercedes-AMG, the luxury carmaker tapped an unlikely partner for their merch in the form of Japanese label sacai. Inspired by their first racing car the Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG, also known as Red Pig, the two are teaming up on both a GT wrap as well as a dedicated fashion capsule. Consisting of a mix of tees, jackets, and even a jumpsuit as well as accessories, the collab features all the unique details sacai fans will love while nods to racing will keep the F1 fans satisfied. The pieces will be available at Nordstrom as well as in person at AMG Speed City.
A$AP Rocky’s Puma F1 Partnership Line Debuts
Speaking of F1 merch, following Puma’s announcement that A$AP Rocky will be their Creative Director, the two are launching their first capsule collection today. Consisting of graphic pieces inspired by everything from ‘90s toy car sticker kits to racing gloves to the balaclavas that drivers wear under their helmets, the line is streetwear cool personified. This is the first of drops to come, with more slated for 2024. For those who want to check it out in person, they’re planning a pop-up at the corner of Fremont and North 10th street in Las Vegas this weekend while a limited amount of accessories will be available on their site.
Jake Gyllenhaal Hosted a Dinner for Ginori 1735
To properly celebrate a new Ginori 1735 collection, a delicious meal must be involved, like say at Via Carota. And perhaps maybe invite a few major guests, like Jake Gyllenhaal? That’s what the brand did last week, when they asked their newest ambassador Gyllenhaal to host a dinner where the entire room was decked out in their Oriente Italiano Gold collection. Featuring tables set with porcelain tableware in shades of gold, white, and scarlet red as well as complementary florals in similar shades, the evening featured plenty of classic Italian cocktails and the restaurant’s signature dishes. For those interested in the colorful patterned pieces, you can shop the collection here.
Dolce & Gabbana Launches Nero
While you might associate Dolce & Gabbana with an explosion of color, the brand decided to go the opposite route for their latest book, Nero: The Color of Dolce & Gabbana. Instead of saturated hues and wild patterns, the images instead are black and white, highlighting what they consider to be one of the most powerful colors. With photos that range from ad campaigns to editorials to unseen photos, the images are striking and feature a who’s who of top tier photographers from Mert & Marcus to Helmut Lang to Peter Lindberg. Naturally, given their celebrity following, plenty of the pics include longtime fans like Monica Bellucci, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, and more. To celebrate the release, the Rizzoli bookstore on Broadway, NYC will exclusively display the book and imagery.
Givenchy’s Runway Retrospective
If you’re wanting to add on to the coffee table book collection, you’ll want to look at Givenchy’s latest. Titled Givenchy: The Complete Collection, it’s a 632 page retrospective view on the luxury house over the course of 70 years. Fashion historian and curator Alexandre Samson as well as writer Anders Christian Madsen offers historical context, from Hubert de Givenchy’s founding to the Alexander McQueen years to Matthew M. Williams’ current work. You’ll see carefully curated runway images as well as imagery featuring famous friends like Audrey Hepburn, Jacqueline Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and more.
Chanel Resort Has Arrived in Stores
Back in May Chanel headed to Hollywood, taking over the soundstages at Paramount Studios for their resort presentation. With a star-studded front row and a performance by Snoop Dogg, the show felt like the embodiment of California cool, down to the beach-ready looks that filled the runway. And now those crop tops, colorful shorts, and playful swim pieces are finally available in stores. Featuring a campaign shot by Inez & Vinoodh, the dreamy sunset images of Anna Ewers and Loli Bahia highlight the old world glamor of Hollywoods as well as the sporty vibes of Venice Beach.
Manolo Blahnik Celebrates Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy
Despite her untimely death nearly 25 years ago, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy remains a continuing source of fascination for the fashion world, especially with the current obsession over quiet luxury. It’s fitting then that journalist Sunita Kumar Nair is releasing a book dedicated to her style. Called Carolyn Bessette Kennedy: A Life in Fashion, the 256 page tome features a preface by Edward Enninful as well as anecdotes from designers who have dressed her like Manolo Blahnik. To celebrate the launch Manolo Blahnik hosted a cocktail party in honor of Nair. Featuring a red lip bar by Cle de Peau, guests flipped through the pages while also browsing Bessette-Kennedy beloved styles like the BB pumps and Callamu sandals.
Louis Vuitton Renews Nicolas Ghesquiere’s Contract
Expect to see at least five more years of Nicolas Ghesquière at the helm of Louis Vuitton. The luxury house announced this week that they’re renewing his contract as Artistic Director of Women’s Collections. Ghesquère has held the post since 2013, creating a decade’s worth of unexpected designs. “”It is a true honor to continue writing the story of Louis Vuitton.
