The 10 Best Dressed at the 75th Emmy Awards

Standouts include Aubrey Plaza in Loewe and Jessica Chastain in Gucci.

Between the actor and writer’s strikes, the Emmy Awards found themselves in a tough spot this year. Crammed in among all of the shows, it fell a day after the Critic’s Choice and a mere 10 days after the Golden Globes. Comparing the red carpets is inevitable and after a surprisingly glamorous Globes, last night wasn’t exactly the most exciting. But there were standouts to be had, with a select group of winners, nominees, and presenters making strong showings.

Having dressed Taylor Swift in a wicked green for the Golden Globes, Gucci put Jessica Chastain in a similar shade that evoked classic Hollywood glamour by way of 2024. A strong counterpart to Chastain was Rachel Brosnahan in custom Atelier Versace. The sinuous shape, as inspired by a 1995 design, was an equally as glamorous contrast to Chastain’s relaxed silhouette.

Sarah Snook and Suki Waterhouse both went for red, perhaps as symbols of their respective successes. While Snook’s Vivienne Westwood nodded to her triumph of Lead Actress, Waterhouse showed up in Valentino with a big bow below her belly bump to signify a “gift” — her first born with fiancé Robert Pattinson.

It would be a crime to ignore Jeremy Allen White, clad in classic Giorgio Armani suit. The actor, who broke the internet a week ago with his Calvin Klein underwear campaign, also went home with a Lead Actor trophy. Also among the best dressed men, Colman Domingo, who wore yet another successful custom Louis Vuitton look.

Besides Domingo, Louis Vuitton proved to have a strong presence last night, being the choice for two other winners: Ayo Edebiri and Ali Wong. Edebiri accepted her Supporting Actress award in a black leather dress by Louis Vuitton whose structural silhouette served as a welcome contrast in a sea of ball gowns. For Wong, her sparkly column was historic  — literally, she’s the first Asian  woman to win an Emmy in a lead role.

To round out the evening, it’d be remiss not to mention the cast of White Lotus. Seen in countless memes across the internet, Aubrey Plaza’s Loewe spring 2024 runway piece was equal parts playful and stylish. For co-star Jennifer Coolidge, in a sheer Etro gown, it was her acceptance speech that kept the night lively. Without the evil gays, we’d definitely be bored last night.
