There’s nothing much more idyllic than an Italian summer. Be it sipping a Campari Spritz on the Amalfi Coast, or gliding your way through Venice on a gondola, they’re the sunkissed getaways we idolise from the movies and see gracing the backs of postcards from an early age. This season, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana designed a wardrobe prepped and primed to outfit a sophisticated summer venturing through Italy’s most picturesque locations. Be it striped shirting unbuttoned to just above the navel worn paired with slightly ballooned trousers, or elegant, linen suits cut loose. Most impressive was the use of woven raffia, used to craft everything from boxy shirts and blazers through to oxford shoes and generously-sized tote bags in delicious chocolate browns.
The design duo drew on Italian style of the 1950s as their starting point, noting Marcello Mastroianni’s film catalogue as an inspiration threaded throughout. Living La Dolce Vitalooks all that much better when you’re dressed up in Dolce & Gabbana.
