In Chanel’s latest high jewelry collection, diamonds and sapphires mingle with aluminum and carbon fiber. It’s an unexpected combination, but one that feels quintessentially Chanel. Patrice Leguéreau, the mastermind behind the maison’s jewelry, has taken inspiration from the world of sport to create pieces that are as much about movement as they are about sparkle.

Imagine a brooch complete with a carabiner set in diamonds, or a cuff that’s lighter than air thanks to its carbon-fiber construction. These aren’t your grandmother’s jewels—they’re made for a woman who’s always in motion.

Leguéreau has reimagined Chanel’s iconic motifs through this athletic lens. The number 5 appears as a sleek chronometer, while the house’s beloved lion roars from a coat of arms. Even the classic quilt pattern has been given a high-tech makeover, appearing as a supple mesh that moves with the wearer.

It’s a bold move for an haute joaillerie collection, but one that feels right for our times. After all, who says you can’t wear diamonds to the gym?
