F1 trailblazer Lewis Hamilton has put the pedal to the metal with a new guest-designed capsule collection for Dior – and not only that, the British racing driver has been named the house’s newest menswear ambassador.
With an inventive twist and a technical spin, the collection, which Hamilton designed alongside Kim Jones, blends couture and practicality with winter sportswear. The range features new casual suiting in traditional Dior tweeds offset against slouchy denim, knit, fleeces and sweats. Designed with the technical rigour of Japanese skiwear, the collection offers ultimate protection from the cold.
Among the collection’s highlights is the retro and sporty B44 Blade bag that seamlessly integrates function with decoration and the Dior Snow Derby, an expertly designed, multi-layered, microfibre snow sneaker. Also up for grabs are quarter zip sweaters adorned with traditional African textiles crafted by weavers from Burkina Faso – a conscious addition to the collection as both Jones and Hamilton wanted to highlight the unique craftspeople and artisanal processes of Africa.
Speeding further into the fashion world, Hamilton’s influence extends far beyond the racetrack. His impeccable style and daring fashion choices have cemented his status as a top-tier style icon, making his appointment by Dior a natural fit. The brand praises Hamilton, stating that he “embodies the boldness and singularity of Dior allure.”
The collection will be available to buy in boutiques and online at dior.com from October 17. Keep your eyes peeled.
