Hermès: Ready-to-Wear SS25

Nadège Vanhée takes us inside the atelier.

When luxury brands talk about what sets them apart, one word comes up time and time again – the atelier. A place where skilled artisans bring to life the creations, it also serves as the point of inspiration for Hermès spring 2025. For Nadège Vanhée, the new collection brings us into the workshop, a destination not only for getting the task at hand done but where there is room to play, explore and create. It is both practical and yet completely impractical, depending on where the imagination takes the creator, making it a perfect metaphor for the looks that walked the runway over the weekend.

The show opened with a buttery soft leather jacket worn over a bralette and sheer trousers, all in shades of tan. The vibe hinted at summer vacation, whether it be spent in the city or by the beach. A long sheer dress with utilitarian pocket patches quickly followed – the ideal seaside escape look for the minimalist while a sharp cropped jacket worn over high-waisted pants offered a sexy spin on suiting. Vanhée wanted to explore the ideas of artistry and versatility, as a silk romper included block and screen printing while a wrap dust coat included plenty of pockets as well as loops for glasses. Featuring a palette in shades of camel, nutmeg, as well as muted greens and pops of pink, the looks offered a restrained yet lightweight take on the ideal warm weather wardrobe. Other highlights included a cotton poplin smock dress in bronze green while a reversible jacket was made in an alabaster chevron denim.

But being that this is Hermès, you’re probably wondering about the accessories. As always, it was filled with pieces that are sure to become new favorites. For the shoes, chunky sandals were the go-to choice, flat, practical, and with enough heft to feel as if you could spend all day on your feet with ease. Handbag-wise, it was a parade of delights from a Birkin à l’envers bag to a Plume bag to playful straw buckets to elegant Kellys and more. The choices seemed endless, and to that end, their clients will definitely be happy come next year.
