Messika’s Splashy Miami Takeover

In honor of their newest collection, Moderniste.

For a city beloved for its sun and beaches, Miami’s Art Deco history is also a compelling reason to head down to Florida. And for Messika, that unique combination of architecture, art, and palm trees makes for the ideal backdrop to celebrate their latest collection, Moderniste. The jewelry brand whisked editors and friends of the brand down to the Magic City for 72 hours of their own type of magic — the kind that comes with plenty of sparkling diamonds and equally as high-wattage star power.

Founded by Valérie Messika, the brand celebrated its 20th anniversary last fall with runway shows in both Paris and New York. Moderniste, their newest addition to the lineup, marks an evolution of the codes the designer has set over the years. Featuring sharp, geometric lines as inspired by contemporary architecture, you’ll find classic bangles and rings in white gold, yellow gold, and rose gold. But what sets the designs apart are the more playful ideas from two finger rings to ear clips to chokers. Regardless of the silhouette, you’ll find each piece is cut in a manner that plays up the polished and refracted qualities in the metal — essentially treating it like a diamond. And don’t worry, there’s also plenty of sparkle, be it a delicate diamond dotting the center of a bangle or a generous pavé that spans across the neck. To accompany the collection, Messika tapped Julianne Moore to star in the campaign as well as the film, as directed by Ezra Petronio and Valérie herself.

In honor of Moderniste, Messika staged a cocktail party at Chateau ZZ. Built in 1931 by Martin L. Hampton, the French-inspired manor served as the residence of John and Sheelah Murrel for years before transforming into a Mexican fine dining concept. For one night only last week, it became a glittering hub — literally. Downstairs guests were able to view ten pieces from Terres d’Instinct, the brand’s high jewelry collection, with some would-be clients trying on spectacular necklaces. Upstairs, the cinema room screened the campaign film. Moore was in attendance alongside her daughter Liv Freundlich and was joined by Helena Christensen, Candice Swanepoel, Karolina Kurkova, and Gunna in celebration.

“Tonight in Miami, we celebrate more than a collection. Modernist marks a new chapter in my creative journey, a true expression of maturity and vision. Having Julianne Moore with us to embody this spirit makes this moment even more meaningful. She represents a powerful, authentic femininity that resonates deeply with everything Messika stands for,” said Valérie. We couldn’t agree more.
