A treasure trove of exquisite fashion is now for sale.
Last year, on the occasion of Giorgio Armani’s 50th anniversary, the Italian brand launched an expansive archive of its past collections. The project was conceived to revive historical designs while serving as a resource for research and documentation, informing the brand’s present and future creative direction. Functioning as a conceptual dictionary, it defines five decades of creativity, consistency, and innovation – reintroducing Giorgio Armani as a living legacy in fashion.
Both the physical and digital archives allow viewers to study thousands of original looks dating from 1975 to today, all meticulously documented and organized thematically, chronologically, and by collection.
Now, coinciding with Milan Design Week, Giorgio Armani has reproduced thirteen men’s and women’s looks from the archive, spanning 1979 to 1994, to be sold in stores. This marks an exciting moment, not only for fashion enthusiasts and historians, but for anyone curious about the influences that have shaped contemporary fashion and defined notions of luxury. With pieces that have stood the test of time, it reaffirms that the original Italian minimalist never goes out of style. Much like last year’s archival launch, these re-editions are created with the concept “Past Perfect. Future Ready.” in mind — offering younger generations the opportunity to rediscover the essence of the brand.
To accompany, there’s also a campaign shot by creative director Eli Russell Linnetz. Evoking the vintage character of the garments while inspired by archival imagery, the visuals maintain a distinctly contemporary edge.
The looks will be available on armani.com, as well as in select Giorgio Armani boutiques and at Apropos Berlin, Just One Eye Los Angeles, and MyTheresa. The story behind each piece can be explored at archivio.armani.com.
