10 Things You Might Have Missed This Week: We Love a Premiere

Chanel’s Première Galon watch, Tiffany & Co. fetes Frankenstein, and more.

Designer debut season may be over but this week was all about a premiere, in more ways than one. Leading the way is Chanel, celebrating their appropriately titled Première Galon watch with an intimate dinner at Chateau Royale in New York City. Coincidentally, a few days earlier Frankenstein held the film’s NYC premiere at the Plaza Hotel followed by an afterparty at Tiffany & Co.’s flagship. Speaking of entertainment, Giorgio Armani’s video series Crossroads, which honors accomplished women in the arts, returned for another season on their social media channels. And while technically Pierpaolo’s first ads for Balenciaga fall more in the designer debut category, we’re going to count it as being perfectly on theme.

Read on to learn more and catch up on what else you might have missed.

Chanel Celebrates the Première Galon Watch

In 1987, Chanel created the Première watch. With its octagonal face that brought to mind the N°5 perfume bottle stopper as well as leather chain bracelet, it embodied the brand’s visual codes, making it an instantly classic. Well, that classic timepiece is about to get a friend. Introducing the Première Galon, which reinterprets the couture braid — another signature Chanel design element. Made from twisted sold 18-carat gold, you’ll find three versions: pure 18k yellow gold, a diamond-accented version with a black lacquered dial, and a full diamond showstopper. In honor of the latest addition to the family, the brand hosted a dinner this week at the recently opened Chateau Royale with the likes of Sarah Pidgeon, Riley Keough, Tessa Thompson, Lucy Boynton, and more in attendance.

Pierpaolo’s First Balenciaga Ad is Here

Following Pierpaolo Piccioli’s highly anticipated debut at Balenciaga that featured an all-star front row with the likes of Anne Hathaway and Meghan Markle, comes his first ad campaign. Shot inside Paris’s Hôtel de Maisons – Pozzo di Borgo by David Sims, the intimate portraits of Mona Tougaard and Sandra Murray embody Piccioli’s vision of effortless beauty – soft yet strong, spontaneous yet refined. Fluid, architectural silhouettes reinterpret femininity as a quiet power rooted in authenticity rather than spectacle. fFeaturing Balenciaga’s Rodeo and Le City bags, the images bridges past and future.

Tiffany & Co.’s Very Frankenstein Evening

After announcing their involvement in Netflix’s new Frankenstein, Tiffany & Co. held the premiere’s afterparty at their Fifth Avenue flagship, The Landmark. Transformed for the occasion, the exterior featured an immersive installation created  in collaboration with director  Guillermo del Toro. Each window was framed with an architectural design inspired by Victor Frankenstein’s laboratory, and reimagined scenes from the movie. Inside, the video walls were covered with dramatic lighting and a presentation of the pieces worn by Mia Goth’s character. Upstairs, on the 8th and 9th floors, Goth, Del Toro alongside fellow castmate Oscar Isaac mingled with guests as they checked out a photo exhibit of the characters in addition to the original costumes and jewelry from the archives.

Now You Can Smell Like Chopova Lowena

Our favorite freaky fashion duo Chopova Lowena is expanding into the olfactory world, releasing a series of three scents. Launched earlier this week, the perfumes, tester trio set, and hand poured candles embody the sweet yet rebellious spirit of the London based brand. Made in Bulgaria and utilizing locally sourced herbs, roses and oils, choose from Queen Rosa, Hay Zhasminal, and Great Root, Green Ruth. Queen Rosa, like its name implies, is a floral, woodsy, musky fragrance with notes of bulgarian rose, pink pepper and bergamot. Hay Zhasminal features jasmine, fennel and ylang-ylang while Great Root, Green Ruth evokes earthy energies with vetiver, saffron, nutmeg, and Bulgarian geranium. The bottles, designed by animator Phoebe Jane Hart, are a highlight, with each representing a superhero that embodies the essence of their respective fragrance. Like a doll, these are meant to be collected and accessorized, encouraging us to play with each character.
