A portion of all purchases through May 22 will go towards their conservation program.
With spring and farmers markets in full swing, the perfect produce you probably have in your fridge wouldn’t be here were it not for bees. But over the last few decades, the insects have been under threat of colony collapse, among other diseases. It’s alarming enough that the United Nations has deemed May 20th World Bee Day. Established in 2018 in honor of the birth anniversary of Anton Jansa, a pioneer of modern beekeeping, the day is meant to highlight the role they play in our food supply and ecosystem. And for Guerlain, that messaging is especially relevant as they consider the bee not just their symbol but a key part of how they produce some of their most beloved products.
In 2021 Guerlain has made it a point to actively participate in World Bee Day, with the goal to raise over one million euros for their Guerlain for Bees Conservation Program. Established in 2011 and counting Angelina Jolie as a partner, the program works with NGOs across the world as well as creating a Bee School program to educate children about conservation efforts. This year, they’ll also be opening a garden in Milliére Valley on June 1st. The space will allow schools, university groups, businesses, and other groups the opportunity to learn more about getting involved in the preservation of natural ecosystems.
For those looking to get involved while also indulging in some self-care, Guerlain has created a KissKiss Bee Glow Honey Tint Balm, allowing customers to see the importance of bees and using what nature has to offer to create makeup. For those who prefer skincare, their classic Advanced Youth Watery Oil will have a special World Bee Day version featuring a design by illustrator duo Oniriq. Regardless of what you decide on, 20% of all sales, both online and in-store, between now and May 22nd will benefit the foundation. Shop it here.
