10 Things You Might Have Missed This Week: Heat Wave Edition

Loewe’s milk tee for charity, Celine does pilates, and Chanel dances.

It’s not your imagination, it’s really really hot this week and that’s not a reference to Loewe’s Drink Your Milk campaign. Considering most of the country is under a heatwave, figuring out creative ways to stay cool seems like the plan. Thankfully, just in time for the sweltering temperatures comes a slew of warm weather collections, whether it’s Miaou’s skimpy best-sellers, & Other Stories’ flowy capsule collection with artist Brianna Lance, or Birkenstock’s ode to Los Angeles. And speaking of Los Angeles, what could be more L.A. than Celine launching a pilates collection?

Read on to learn more and catch up on what else you might have missed.

Loewe Says Drink Your Milk

Fans of Fellow Travelers will remember a pivotal scene where Matt Bomer’s character Hawk tells Jonathan Bailey’s Tim to “drink your milk”. Now that moment gets immortalized, courtesy of Bailey and Loewe. Bailey, who is a front row regular at the brand’s show, worked with Jonathan Anderson to create a cheeky, surreal tee with the proceeds going to charity. Featuring a splatter that suggests the beverage being spilled down the collar, it’s called what else but the Drink Your Milk t-shirt. For each sold, Loewe will make a donation to The Shameless Fund. Founded by Bailey, the organization hopes to raise funds to champion and support the LGBTQ+ non-profit sector. Interested in getting your own? They’ll be available online and in stores on June 27th.

Celine Does Pilates

No one loves Los Angeles as much as Hedi Slimane loves Los Angeles. And what could be more L.A. than a pilates session followed by some green juice? While a Celine branded beverage might just be the stuff of fantasies, the former can be a reality. This week the luxury label released images of their pilates collection. Styled and photographed by Slimane, it stars Kaia Gerber and features a reformer, leather kettlebells, yoga mat, and weights embossed with their signature logo. But don’t start planning your private sessions quite yet — these will hit stores and online in October.

Diptyque’s Famous City Candles Are Back

One of the best travel souvenirs is stopping by a Diptyque and grabbing a city candle, which is usually an exclusive product created for each location. But what happens when you run out and feel like reliving that scent memory? Well, thankfully once a year, they offer all 11 for purchase, regardless of location. So whether you want to evoke that trip to Beijing courtesy of a green tea, sandalwood, and magnolia candle or are curious as to what London smells like (flower market florals!), now’s your chance. The sale runs from now through the 30th so get them online or at their boutiques before they’re gone.

Italian artist Nico Vascellari highlights Galitzine and Ruoyun in metallic outfits, surrounded by glass structures that display the FF Monogram. A special collaboration includes the Peekaboo ISeeU bag and FENDI MAD futuristic sneakers designed with MAD Architects, featuring the iconic FF. For tech lovers there’s also a speaker made in collaboration with the electronics brand Devialet. Find these pieces in stores and online on July 18th.

Birkenstock’s Very Summer Appropriate Collection

Get ready for that summer feeling, as Birkenstock 1774 introduces Eternal Sunshine, a vibrant two-part collection inspired by the lively energy of Los Angeles over the decades. Featuring fresh takes on iconic Birkenstock styles, this collection will drop in two waves. The first hits on June 20th, fitting since it’s the solstice, and features the Arizona and Milano styles rendered in spray-painted raffia as a nod to the golden age of surf culture in the 1960s. For those who prefer something sleeker, the seventies-inspired designs feature Arizona as well as the Florida in a milky PVC that melds to the wearer’s skin tone. For the second drop in August, you’ll find the Madrid and Milano reinterpreted into eighties inspired designs that bring to mind sweaty summer nights. And finally the nineties features plenty of denim as seen in the stone-washed fabric covering Arizona and Milano sandals while the Eliscu clog and the Sylt slide are quilted with contrast stitching. Shop these exclusively on 1774.com and at certain global retailers.

& Other Stories Collaborates With Artist Brianna Lance

During 2020 creative consultant and fashion designer Brianna Lance found herself without clients and stuck at home during the lockdown. And so, she picked up watercolor painting, creating hyper-feminine and mystical pieces that in her words, bring an energy historically excluded from modern art. Her works caught the attention of brands ranging from The Frankie Shop to the Edition hotels. And this week, her capsule collection with & Other Stories has launched. Consisting of four pieces, two caftans, a dress, and a jumpsuit, they’re made with zero-waste patterns where scraps are repurposed into elements like pockets. As for the prints, they’re indicative of Lance’s work with images of fruit, pearls, sea creatures, and more — dreamy yet slightly surreal and unsettling. Shop the collaboration here.
