A Special Collection of Luxury Watches Comes to New York

Bucherer’s TimeMachine will feature rare pieces from in-the-know brands.

In the never-ceasing hum that is life in New York City, it’s important to know the time lest you be late to Sunday brunch or your mediocre Hinge date, (again). You can always argue that that’s what your phone is for but considering watch culture is having a bit of a renaissance, especially among young collectors, what’s better than a special piece of wrist-candy? Enter luxury Swiss watch retailer Bucherer, who just introduced Masterworks this spring. Consisting of a curated selection of unique watches, they’re meant to show off the art of watchmaking. A few of their global boutiques – Berlin, London, Zurich, and as of this June, Las Vegas – have shown these unique pieces, but they haven’t made a Big Apple appearance until now. The collection is now available at their 57th Street flagship better known as the TimeMachine.

Watch fans will have plenty to marvel over as the selection is full of names both familiar and lesser known. You’ll find classic coveted gems by the likes of Hublot, Jacob & Co., and Jaeger-LeCoultre, among others but the true finds are by the niche artisans. From the exposed skeleton gears of openwork watches to Ulysse Nardin’s semi-clear Skeleton X piece, these timepieces share a kindred spirit in their fine and intricate craftsmanship. With tourbillon and perpetual calendar styles, these are the pinnacles of art and watchmaking capabilities. Not in NYC to view and try these marvels on in person? The Masterworks showcase is also available in an online, immersive format with reality-bending 3D art by the award-winning digital artist Jon Emmony.
