The Knwls woman demanded to be seen this season. As she entered the show space at the Old Central Saint Martins building in Holborn, she almost leered at onlookers – ‘Yeah, I look hot. What of it?’. She’s not wrong, to be fair.
Co-creative directors Charlotte Knowles and Alexandre Arsenault looked to design greats like Madame Grès and Azzedine Alaïa to better understand their sartorial codes. The homework paid off in spades, translating into gorgeously gathered silk jumpsuits and gowns, sculptural outerwear and grungy biker leather sets that all fit snug as a bug. The cherry on top of a delicious sundae, chic intergalactic hats came courtesy of legendary milliner Stephen Jones who admired his handiwork from the FROW.
Closing the show – and making a dramatic entrance at the double doors to let everyone know – was the KNWLS bride. Neither mindful, nor demure, the wedded-to-be was clearly in a rush to consummate with sexy straps and sheer panelling that begged to be stripped off. Hot, hot, hot!
