Rocha presented a cast of disgruntled debutantes and teased a new Crocs collab.
Remember your first school dance? At Simone Rocha’s SS26 show, we were invited to relive those awkward, exhilarating moments between girlhood and adulthood — albeit through her own ethereal lens on a reluctant debutante who just wants to stay in bed today.
Models seemed to have been forcibly woken up from a nap, clutching silk pillows and sporting tousled bedhead. Some walked the runway with arms crossed, oozing disgruntled tween. Sparkly bralettes were worn with gauzy crinolines, while oversized dresses, jackets, and bloomers gave the impression of wearing clothes you haven’t quite grown into yet. Matching sets of rhinestone tiaras, earrings, and necklaces brought to mind the dress-up jewels of childhood, while glossy lips were playfully printed with red florals and the words “Sweet Dream.”
Eventually, though, our debutante does make it to the ball, wearing a strapless dress with padded hips in an eye-catching chartreuse or white broderie anglaise, a slinky floor length all-sequin number, or a silky ivory gown with a single printed flower. Often, though, with a rebellious twist: black sequined opera gloves, an oversized trapper hat, or a shirt tied nonchalantly around the waist. There were also clear mac coats worn over ribbon-trimmed bed jackets, and trenches with loops designed especially to hold your florals from the corner shop.
The collection also included Rocha’s fourth collaboration with Crocs: “Ballerina Platform” mary janes dripping in rhinestones and pearls. Comfort meets fantasy, naturally.
